George Postmus Biography
George's style draws from his mentors and artists such as John Singer Sargent, Philip A. DeLaszlo, and Joaquin Sorolla. Though matching their mastery is challenging, he strives toward that high standard.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in art from Western Michigan University in 1962, graduating with honors. Afterward, he worked in advertising and marketing, eventually founding his own firm. His postgraduate work in new product introduction and marketing earned him numerous awards.
George and his wife Mary Hettinga have traveled throughout the US and Europe, particularly Italy, to broaden his artistic knowledge. He has exhibited in various art shows, winning first place at the 2013 Grand Haven Artwalk and participating in the 2015 Grand Rapids Art Prize.
